New forecast tools that are developed in the research community inevitably involve a learning curve for forecasters. The blogs maintained at the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies represent a natural vehicle to showcase the abilities and potential shortcomings of new forecast techniques that are developed. Animations and still imagery of screen shots from AWIPS (and AWIPS-II) document new forecast tools and are incorporated into short posts that describe the forecast problem and how the new tool can help the forecaster. This talk will describe the blogs and show the different ways that they can be used to aid forecaster adoption of new techniques.
