Small to mid-size communities face many decisions, both short- and long-term, to address localized impacts of climate change and weather variability. Typically these communities do not have the financial resources available of larger cities and have difficulty justifying one-of-a-kind solutions from environmental experts and consultants. Solutions which are technically tractable and scientifically sound have been developed for a broad range of community issues. These solutions can address local impacts for small to mid-size communities and by using efficient product distribution and on-demand access through the Internet be delivered at a much lower cost. Small to mid-size communities can have applications and products tailored for their needs which are based on broadly applicable methodologies for interpreting and responding to changing weather and climate conditions. These approaches can provide efficient and cost effective tools and environmental information to address planning, mitigation, and response to natural disasters, land use and other environmental decisions, so that small to mid-size communities can prosper and grow even in a time of changing weather and climate conditions.
