The American Meteorological Society Oral History Project (AMS-OHP) was created as a joint program between the American Meteorological Society and UCAR and aims to capture the history of the atmospheric sciences as told by the researchers, scientists, administrators and others working in the field. The collection of 107 interviews is especially rich in conversations which capture the memories of those scientists who launched much of the innovative atmospheric and meteorological research in postwar America.

The AMS-OHP collection has been transferred to a digital format with the hope of providing increased access to both audio files and transcripts online in the future, as well as fulfilling our mission to preserve historical context for future generations.

This talk will outline the history of the project, highlight some of the most interesting and significant interviews and discuss next steps for capturing and recording the next generation of atmospheric scientists.
