Despite growing interest in urban microclimate research, advances in science and applications in this field have been limited by a lack of observational data at the very fine scales of space and time that characterize the urban microclimate. Mobile observations are an essential component of an integrated urban climate monitoring platform. A platform for mobile microclimate monitoring has been under development at Arizona State University since 2009. This presentation will discuss the preliminary findings from this sensor platform's deployment, and present a prototype design for a standard mobile microclimate program that can be used for general applications in cities.
