During the early hours of 22 November 2014, a Mesoscale Convective Vortex (MCV) developed over the Central Texas coast and moved into the Gulf of Mexico. As the MCV moved along the coast and onshore, a seiche impacted areas from Sabine Pass in Southeast Texas to Amerada Pass in Louisiana. The seiche resulted in an estimated $75,000 of property damage and hazardous conditions for maritime traffic. An overview of the event and the antecedent conditions are presented. Additionally, the ability to anticipate and forecast seiche events along the Gulf Coast is assessed.
