Since its release two years ago, NOAA View (www.nnvl.noaa.gov/view) has become increasingly popular with a wide variety of audiences, and even some, like professional meteorologists, that were not expected. Similar types of interactive data displays are being requested that show a greater variety of data and tools than the original system could support. In response, over the past year, the developers at the NOAA Visualization Lab began developing an entirely new back-end and user interface for the system. The concept is to use a more modular architectural design, while providing more analytical tools that are pertinent to specific types of data and imagery, which in return simplifies the interface and user experience. This talk will focus on the changes being implemented to NOAA View and the vision for its future.
