455 Improving Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor Cloud-to-Ground Probabilities

Currently, within the Multi-Radar Mult- Sensor product suite, is cloud-to-ground lightning probability. This product uses NLDN's cloud-to-ground lightning, 3D radar, and thermodynamic model data to nowcast the probability of cloud-to-ground lightning on a 2D grid for the next 0-30 minutes. Studies have found that intra-cloud lightning usually precedes cloud-to-ground lightning. With the addition of Earth Networks Total Lightning we can improve the probability of cloud-to-ground lightning.
