Ernest M. May, Kansas Community College, Kansas City, KS

The Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Physical Sciences at Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas City, Kansas serves a large urban, inner-city student population. Yearly enrollment is approximately 6,500 students. For ten years, I have been offering a "Climate Change" symposium in the spring, usually timed for Earth Day, during which I outline many of the basics of earth's dynamic systems for undergraduates, faculty and the local community.

This year I was able to attend the AMS Climate Studies Diversity Project workshop (in May, 2015). Information and support available at the workshop provided me with material and inspiration to offer two related courses in the Spring, 2016 semester: an online Climate Studies course offered primarily for Environmental Studies majors in the Department of Biological Sciences and an on-ground course (with lab) offered primarily for Physical Sciences majors.
