Data management and data storage foundation are critical for ensuring the availability of weather data for NOAA's Information Dissemination Program (IDP) in support of a Weather Ready Nation. This poster highlights the Government's mission for this program but focuses on the underlying technology features and their benefits that IDP uses to ensure that availability. Key data management attributes of the IDP system will be described, including non-disruptive operations, modular scalability and performance, and high data resiliency and availability. These same capabilities are used by other Government agencies and cloud service providers as a platform for shared services. This intelligent and flexible infrastructure uses storage virtualization and data management technology to ensure these capabilities and also delivers “built in” major Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) advantages, with application and protocol independent replication from the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) in College Park, MD to Boulder, CO.
