Many MJO theories, and the DYNAMO campaign, are predicated on the bulk sensitivity of convection to water vapor and lapse rates, and vice versa. A range of DYNAMO data -- both special (Doppler radar, radiometer, sounding) and routine (reanalyses, satellite) are utilized together to attempt to infer aspects of this sensitivity. A new global anomaly model with specified convection sensitivities provides a forward-calculation platform for translating hypothesized multivariate convective sensitivity functions into observation-comparable datasets. With this model guidance, the correlations and coincidences among measurables in the special field data can be interpreted more clearly in mechanistic terms.
