Erik Salna, FIU Extreme Events Institute, Miami, FL

Extreme Weather Experience is a concept to bring the mission of Weather-Ready Nation to life! It is a proposed national network of weather education centers. The network will cover five regions across the United States, each with a regional weather theme and focus. They include severe storms, tropical storms, winter storms, hydrologic and space weather and technology. Each regional center will also include themes focused on weather safety, preparedness, mitigation and resilience. Visitors will “experience” the weather, and motivated to take action through interactive hands-on learning. A weather forecast center and multi-media broadcast center will be part of the design. Potential collaborators include NOAA's Weather-Ready Nation and the International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) and Extreme Events Institute (EEI) at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami.
