Conference Center: Tahoma 4 (Washington State Convention Center )
This presentation will examine the current status of U.S. numerical weather prediction (NWP) on both the global and regional scales. How does US global NWP compare to leading efforts around the world? How is U.S. NWP lagging behind its potential, in areas such as high resolution prediction and probabilistic prediction? How might the U.S. research and operational weather prediction communities work together in a more efficient way? How should the public and private sectors work together in numerical weather forecasting? These topics and others will be covered in a frank, but essentially optimistic discussion.
