GOES-R is scheduled to launch November 4, 2016, which means the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) will open its cover to collect imagery in mid-December and begin a new era in geostationary weather observations.  This presentation will discuss the observed performance of ABI compared to pre-launch measurements, such as scan coverage, optical throughput, SNR & NEdT, INR, etc.  The actual items discussed will be a function of the test schedule and available data.  Due to the short duration between launch and the conference, all results will be preliminary but they will provide an early indication of the health of this instrument and provide a glimpse into the expected performance of the next generation of U.S. operational weather imagery.
