Creating well-structured, interactive classroom activities that use real weather and climate data is a goal for the NOAA Data in the Classroom project. These data are the same data streams that are used operationally in NOAA, tailored for use by classrooms, eliminating a barrier of complexity. In this talk, we’ll cover the pedagogy that drives DITC, the Esri web technology used to build and distribute each module, and the natural extensions for inquiry-based learning activities that are also available through the larger NOAA View data portal system, and a key education focus of the Next Generation Science Standards.
