The GOES-R Ground Segment has instituted a formal algorithm change process that focuses on communication. It does this by organizing scientific contributions prior to entering the software change process used by the Ground Segment Contractor, and providing a mechanism for the scientist to verify the correctness of a change prior to implementation in the operational system by analyzing data from full system testing. This process ensures that the many organizations involved in the calibration/validation activities are kept informed of the status of algorithms they are and/or are not expecting to be changed.

This talk will describe the algorithm change process as implemented on GOES-R and the benefits to the program. The status and schedule of major and minor updates to the science algorithms along with progress from the Algorithm Review Board will also be presented.
