In this presentation I discuss the role of models in policy, the difficulties in communicating results to the public, and the importance of listening to critical voices. I do this using a recent example in the ltierature regarding the introduction of solar radiation management into a climate-economy model (or IAM). I also discuss the difficulties that arise from working in interdisplinary projects where some model results feed into other models, sometimes with contradictory assumptions.
