Taking time to produce simple weather labs can greatly enhance your connection with viewers and the community by creating a learning environment within your forecast. This can increase your credibility as the “Station Scientist” as well as your reach on social media platforms. The key to success is developing simple and yet innovative ways to explain different weather elements that are both informative and entertaining. It is important to make the labs as visual as feasibly possible and try to expand your creative boundaries. These mini weather labs can be produced, edited and ready to be included as an element in a forecast or a separate story. It’s even more effective when a lab explaining a particular weather element is used on a day when that phenomenon is occurring. The labs can become very popular on social media platforms by expanding weather learning to more people and they can easily be used by teachers in a classroom setting.
