2.2 HPAC 6.4 Model Validation and Analysis: Assessing DTRA Reachback Real-World Cases

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Technical Reachback Division provides 24/7/365 decision support and subject matter expertise for planning, operations, and post-event analysis in support of Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear, and high Explosive (CBRNE) missions. In 2016, Technical Reachback produced over 1,500 modeling products for local, state, federal and international customers. Technical Reachback continually strives to advance atmospheric transport and dispersion capabilities through improving numerical weather prediction, complex terrain and urban environment characterization, and material source term definitions. This presentation highlights the latest HPAC 6.4 test results using real world cases, varying weather, terrain, wind solvers and urban models.
