The year 2004 will be going into the books as the biggest year for tornadoes. Over 1700 tornado reports were received at the NWS Storm Prediction Center outdoing 1998 when there were 1,424 tornadoes. The year was highlighted by over 300 tornadoes reported with tropical systems, which is unprecedented since data was recorded since 1950.

This presentation will reveal the official number of tornadoes for 2004 highlighting the more significant events. It will also look how this effects tornado trends over the past ten to twenty years and look at where the number of tornadoes are in 2005.
