The Unified Forecast System (UFS) is rapidly becoming a full open source research and operations capability. NOAA uses the UFS to simplify its Production Suite of operational models, and to accelerate the rate of improvement of the Production Suite. The broader research community uses the UFS to accelerate research, and simplify the Transition to Operations process. The collaboration and cooperation of the UFS community are powered by the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC). EPIC is a virtual center managed by the Weather Program Office at NOAA’s Oceanic and Atmospheric Research and designed to ensure that the UFS is an efficient, effective, and user-friendly community modeling system. The poster will show recent developments, and highlight how to join this growing community.
