Paul J. Croft, Jackson State University, Jackson, MS; and R. S. Reddy and P. J. Fitzpatrick

As part of the High Performance Visualization Center Initiative (HPVCI) at Jackson State University (JSU), the JSU Meteorology Program is developing a web-based Distance Learning component on operational mesoscale meteorology for the military. The initial effort has been to develop and provide forecast products via the web for use in this endeavor and therefore the first and most important component of the work is focused on usability analysis. Presently this includes identifying general knowledge and any special knowledge that the expected users may or may not possess. Products have been identified and will be tested on various subject groups. It is anticipated that final products, and web interface, will be tiled in such a way to encourage use and learning by all levels of individual abilities of users.
