11th Symposium on Education

P1.35

Education of Prospective Weather Entrepreneurs

Matthew J. Parker, Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Aiken, SC

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has offered two short courses that cater to potential or actual entrepreneurs in the field of meteorology. The original idea for the short courses was proposed by the author, but the actual effort relied heavily upon the considerable expertise of the National Council of Industrial Meteorologists and the Private Sector Board of the AMS. The intent of each course, generally speaking, was to provide ample information uniquely pertinent to the business side of the field of meteorology. However, each course differed significantly in format, materials presented, classroom interactions, and intended audiences. The approach for each course and the successes will be presented.
