10 Years of Weather Satellite Imagery Support for K-12 Schools
William R. Lusher, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL; and P. H. Ruscher
EXPLORES! celebrates its tenth year of providing support to K-12 schools this year, in the use of weather satellite imagery. The program expanded outside the state of Florida in 2000, and now provides opportunities for teachers throughout the United States (and beyond) to obtain standards-based curriculum related to earth science and other topical areas. Our educational CD-ROM has been published and will be demonstrated during the talk. The resources on the WWW site (http://www.met.fsu.edu/explores/) will also be reviewed, and contrasting approaches of direct readout versus Internet-reception of satellite imagery will be presented.
