LIGHTNING STATISTICS - Some New Perspectives concerning Florida

For years, lightning has been called the "the underrated killer". This is because it typically affects only a small number of people (three or fewer). New information compiled from Storm Data suggests that in Florida at least, the escalating numbers make it a very real and dangerous weather phenomena.
In summarizing the data and the recent trends indicated, we'll compare Florida's statistics to those of Texas (approximately same latitude) and the Nation. We'll also explore possible reasons for the indicated trend and some of the things being done to get control over these growing numbers of lightning casualties.
