Analysis of Convective Clouds viewed from GOES During DC3

During DC3, NOAA/NESDIS and CIMSS submitted cloud products derived from GOES-13 to the DC3 Field Catalog. From this data, metrics about convective activity were derived. These metrics include rates of cloud growth in the vertical and horizontal dimensions, rates of growth in cloud-ice mass and the temporal evolution of cloud-top microphysics. This poster will provide the highlights of this analysis and compare the GOES-derived metrics to other data such as lightning and storm reports.
