Heritage Ballroom (Sawgrass Marriott)
Laura Elizabeth Michaels, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL; and J. B. Elsner

Hot events are investigated in the city of Tallahassee, Florida using statistical procedures. A hot event is defined as one or more days with a maximum temperature of 100 degrees or higher. The examination of this extreme temperature condition involves daily high temperature data from the year 1951 until present. These records show that the frequency and duration of these events have increased since the 1950s. These upward trends are consistent with what we expect in a warming climate.
