Thursday, 21 April 2016
Plaza Grand Ballroom (The Condado Hilton Plaza)
Christopher Mehta, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL; and J. M. Collins and L. P. Caron

This presentation will include a discussion of Hurricane Patricia (October 2015), which now has the record for the most intense hurricane in the Western Hemisphere, directly impacting Mexico and causing related hazards in the United States. Patricia also experienced rapid intensification with a pressure drop of 100 mb in 24 hours. The factors which contributed towards this record rate of rapid intensification in the Eastern North Pacific are analyzed.
