Tuesday, 25 January 2011: 11:30 AM
615-617 (Washington State Convention Center)
Michel Jean, EC, Dorval, QC, Canada

An update of the current Canadian operational data assimilation and numerical weather prediction system will be provided. The Canadian strategy with respect to numerical weather and environmental predictions system will be discussed. Our thoughts on the human dimension of the strategy, as it relates to the evolution of the role of the operational meteorologist, will be shared. Finally we will present how our research-to-operations mechanisms have evolved over time. Recent improvements to the governance mechanisms with respect to research-to-operations will be presented.
