This Town Hall will be an “opening comments with Q&A” format. An invited panel of experts and practitioners will participate in the panel discussion on the issues related to exploring the development and use of weather prediction models for the CCM community. The topic will be the role of U.S. Government (NASA, NOAA, DOE, BLM, etc) in technology transfer to the private sector (Implementation of Fair Weather Report Recommendations). Each panel member will be asked to open with a statement addressing one of the following topics a. What is/should be the government’s role in technology transfer to the private sector? b. Historical view of their fulfillment of that role c. What is/should be the future path of the government in technology transfer d. What is/should be the role of educational institutes (Knowledge Bank or Competitors) in weather prediction technique development? e. What are the roles and conflicts of university NWP model development? All are invited to attend and interact with panel to explore these topics.
