Recent exploratory social science research informed the development of several graphical and text prototypes for improving the communication of surge and other hazards associated with tropical and extratropical cyclone forecasts. These prototypes were then empirically tested with key NWS customers and partners. This presentation will report on the findings from web-based surveys conducted with emergency managers, broadcast meteorologists, NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologists and members of the public in Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coastal areas and Alaska.
