The Archie Williams story is more than just a footnote of African American history; this story is a lesson in perseverance and opportunity. The story of Archie Williams is the story of countless minority students who are seen for what they appear to be as oppose to what they are capable of. The compelling story of Archie Williams is a sterling example of what happens when teachers, educators and even friends provide the proper motivation. If we want to increase the number of minorities in STEMS and by extension the number of minorities attending AMS, then we should want to hear the Archie Williams story. A story of despair, apathy and ultimately triumph and redemption.
