The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) continues to evolve to support the mission of the National Weather Service (NWS). This presentation summarizes several key projects currently under development, or recently implemented, that improve the functionality and performance of the system. Projects that will be highlighted include:
Addition of new and enhanced data sets such as GOES-16 derived products, Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) products, and the National Blend of Models (NBM) data.
Updates to the AWIPS infrastructure, such as the implementation of the Red Hat 7 operating system.
Incorporation of new products and services, such as Hazard Simplification, that support on-going NWS mission initiatives.
Migration of NWS National Centers AWIPS (NAWIPS) to AWIPS II.
