AWIPS Program—Vision and Strategy

Over the next several years, the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) architecture will undergo significant enhancements to support the National Weather Service (NWS) mission. This presentation will share the vision and strategy for key enhancements to AWIPS that include the following:

• Infrastructure changes for a reduced AWIPS hardware footprint.

• Improvements to the AWIPS architecture to allow access and display of increasing volumes of hydrometeorological data.

• Enhancements to support a distributed and collaborative AWIPS development environment.
