Due to shrinking budgets, many organizations are moving to enterprise ground systems rather than continuing stove-piped systems. Here we discuss the enterprise characteristics to consider when building new enterprise systems. Specific topics covered include whether to incorporate legacy systems; common infrastructures; cloud processing for high-impact KPP products versus routine products (Level 1/SDR versus Level 2/EDR); R2O2R impacts; and management/sustainment impacts on the system Life Cycle Costs. In addition, new satellite types (SmallSats and CubeSats) are creating new possibilities for shorter-term use of these systems.
