The first satellite in the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R-Series (GOES-R), GOES-16, has been in orbit for over a year, and for the majority of that time its data products have been under scrutiny by the product science teams and by downstream users. In this talk we present the current status of the GOES-16 Level-1b (L1b) products, with particular focus on the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) and the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM).

Users have been given unusually early access to the data products to help with product familiarity, software/interface integration, and to aid in product assessment. User feedback is a crucial part of the product maturity review process and helps motivate and prioritize algorithm maturation. As part of this talk, we will present examples of some of the corrections made to the GOES-16 L1b products since launch to help them reach the performance baseline.
