The FAA estimates the fleet of commercial drones could grow to 1.6 million by 2021. It is increasingly clear that advanced weather data will transform the efficiency and safety of UAV operations used for the delivery of goods and other commercial drone activities. Businesses in oil & gas, construction, government, energy and other weather-sensitive industries can leverage advanced weather data analytics for safe site surveying and inspection with drones, better response to disasters and emergencies, and protecting their significant investments in UAV assets. The impact on operations ranges from day and time of flight, flight path, and mission duration – all of which can impact the quality of the data captured from commercial UAV missions. This presentation will focus on the use of how weather datasets can streamline operations for pre-flight planning, in-flight execution, and post-flight analysis.
