Faster, better, and more…the capabilities of the GOES-16 satellite are certainly an advancement over its predecessors. However, it is also proving to be a challenge to process, store, and serve the terabytes of data acquired from the satellite each day. One solution has been to develop image services of selected bands from the satellite’s ABI sensor. These services, leveraging Esri ArcGIS technology, have been built into a variety of web applications available from NOAA. In this talk, we will discuss our systems engineering, the available services, end-user applications, and access points for the data.
