3.1 Using the Data Assimilation Research Testbed for Climate System Applications (Invited Presentation)

Monday, 8 January 2018: 2:00 PM
Room 4ABC (ACC) (Austin, Texas)
Jeffrey Anderson, NCAR, Boulder, CO

The Data Assimilation Research Testbed is a community ensemble data assimilation facility that has been applied with many earth system models including models of the atmosphere, ocean, land surface, sea ice, upper atmosphere, and coupled models. Several novel applications to the climate system will be highlighted to illustrate the capabilities of DART. Challenges that have been faced in applying data assimilation to new models will also be described. A discussion of promising research directions involving data assimilation and climate system models will close the presentation.
