Tuesday, 9 January 2018: 1:30 PM
Room 3 (ACC) (Austin, Texas)
Sarah Davis, NOAA Central Library, Silver Spring, MD; and J. Fagan-Fry and J. Rey

The NOAA Central Library recently took advantage of organizational restructuring as a catalyst to begin a large scale website redesign and unified branding campaign that emphasizes the library’s services, social media accounts, special events, and unique resources. This presentation will explore how the library has utilized a new content management system and other tools, to integrate cross-channel promotion with other library platforms including the NOAA Photo Library and the recently launched NOAA Institutional Repository to help increase awareness and discoverability of NOAA’s scientific research products. With tools such as the library’s Facebook account and blog, we have been able to amplify NOAA’s message, making research more easily available to NOAA staff, the public, and the greater scientific community. The library’s holistic approach to library services is reflected in this multi-faceted strategy, a strategy which has proved successful through metrics provided by Google Analytics and Splunk which show a marked increase in website traffic and user activity.
