Variational assimilation in a propotype limited area model

In the context of variational assimilation in a limited area model, the advection equation is considered; the control of the model is composed of the initial value and the boundary forcing; we show that traditional numerical schemes lead to badly behaved adjoints; alternative schemes are proposed; controllability and convergence issues are adressed
